Most Interesting Findings
One of the things I get asked a lot is how I play ps3, how I manage the controller when I have absolutely no finger function. So I thought I’d film me playing to show everyone how I do it, and also why I’m not the most skilled gamer. Hmm.. I probably should have commentated while playing… ah well!
Here is a little about my disability, then I’l try and explain exactly how I manage the controller as you can’t really see it all. I did have a fully functioning human body until I accidentally broke it on a bouncy castle. I broke my neck at level c5/c6 but with the way it healed i’m more of a c6/c7 complete. Which means that I’m paralyzed roughly from the nipples down. I have no movement in my legs or trunk, and my arms are affected meaning the muscles at the back are weaker. I also can’t move any of my fingers, which can be a bit of a bitch, but I get by fine with various techniques I have developed. My brain is 100% intact, so having old ladies coming up to you in the street and talking to you like you’re a child is a little annoying.. but I aint bitter. So I play a lot of video games and it took me a while to figure out the techniques to allow me to play at a reasonable level (I do have my good games!
). So for MW2, I use my left palm or ball of my hand for the left stick, have to take my hand off it to use my thumb for the D-pad. I vary between using my right hand ia similar fashion for the right stick, and twisting my left hand over so I can aim while I shoot. I …
